Wet Towels News Bulletin: Ghost Slugs Haunt Welsh Gardens

A new species of slug has been discovered in South East Wales

The so-called "ghost" slug, discovered in a garden in Cardiff, was yesterday found to be a new species by specialists in the National Museum of Wales and Cardiff University. "It's a remarkable find, especially for us here in Wales" said Ben Rowen, a biologist at the University. "Before this the biggest things to come out of Wales have been Tom Jones and cheese on toast. We're all very excited"

They have given the creature a partially Welsh name, Selenochlamys ysbryda, or ghost (ysbryd) slug. "We decided on the name 'ghost' slug, because of the white, ...

E3 2008, the big three have spoken

It's that time of the year again - E3 time. Even though the event has had some huge changes since last year, being managed by totally different people, even having a different name now (E3 Media and Business Summit (formerly known as Electronic Entertainment Expo), it ended up giving us very typical keynotes from Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony.

Microsoft was first, with few surprises. Mostly just confirmations of rumours that had been floating around for weeks or months. "Lips" a name often heard in these rumours, turns out to be a singstar style game for the 360 with motion sensing microphones. Netflix integration with the XBox, ...

Clove 2 Dataglove, Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger one handed "typing"

Now, this is a cool way to mod a Dell bluetooth keyboard! Some guy called Christopher Mitchell has created a wearable typing glove device thing. Key strokes are achieved through pre-programmed finger movements. Sort of like: touch top of thumb with middle finger to get the letter d. Could be useful for warehouse work or other places where a free hand is important. The site has a complete write-up of how to make the glove yourself, if you happen to have that amount of free time. What I really like though, is that it makes the wearer move like the hands in that Daft Punk ...

Wet Towels Book Review: The Wizard Knight

A wise man once said "Don't judge a book by its cover". I have no idea who said it, but if he's reading this, he's probably not going to like this review, because that is exactly what I'm about to do.

There's a book which has been sitting in my room for the past couple of months called "The Wizard Knight", and it's been calling me to read it for some time now. My little brother bought it second hand from a bin somewhere in England for the princely sum of seven pounds (shockingly my German keyboard doesn't have a symbol for the ...

Wet Towel News Bulletin: Priests Set to Top Charts With Holy Hymns

Three Roman Catholic priests in Belfast are set to take the music world by storm, having signed a major record deal with Sony BGM. They were spotted by a talent scout while singing in their churches, and while their style is closer to Belfast's Christ Church than Wales's Charlotte Church, they are set to make their impact on the music charts.

The trio, ingeniusly calling themselves "The Priests", comprise of a pair of brothers, Fathers Eugene and Martin O'Hagen, along with Father David Delargy, all of whom have parishes in the diocese of Down and Connor. While local parisoners have greeted the news with a mix ...

Wet Towel News Bulletin: Prison "Too Comfy" for Prisoners to Escape From

Concern has been raised in England over the state of the prison service, which has been described as being "too comfy" for prisoners to want to leave. The latest wave of controversy springs from the recent break-in at Everthorpe prison in Yorkshire, where a drug dealer scaled the prison's walls with a ladder and broke in through a cell window, where he supplied inmates with drugs and mobile phones. Despite the fact that the window was open, with a ladder leading safely down to the ground, none of the prisoners in the cell took this obvious oppertunity to escape. Glyn Travis, of the Prison Officers ...

Wet Towels News Bulletin: 49 Killed by Suicide Bomber in Iraq

At least 49 people have been killed, and another 50 injured, in a suicide bombing near the town of Kirkuk, in northern Iraq. The attack took place at a funeral being held in a village on the border of the Diyala region. It was originally thought that the attack was carried out by al-Qaeda, who have been increasingly active in the province recently, but in fact a new group, al-Waz'ri Kora, which roughly translated means “Iraqi GraveDiggers' Union”, has come forward to take responsibility.

An anonymous spokesman from the IGDU said in a video sent to al-Jazeera, “this is not a situation that ...
